Goody Beagle here. It's in my genes to chase rabbits so I think my human should provide me with an unending supply of rabbits. Right? She doesn’t think so, but I need to feel useful, you know? That’s in my genes too.
Last night I saved our house from a possum invasion. I barked and howled and chased that damn possum right over the fence. Have you ever seen a possum run? They kind of waddle, it would be funny except that I don’t have a sense of humor when it comes to possums (or rabbits.)
I could have let the possum come in the cat door – that’s where she was going, I think she smelled cat food – but instead I chased her away because I am a Brave and Noble Beagle. Especially since I not only saved the house and my human, I saved The Cat too. Not on purpose; The Cat lives in our house so I had no choice. And she didn’t even say Thank You. Cats have no sense of gratitude. They are worse than possums, but for some unfathomable reason my human says The Cat can stay here.
